How to distinguish completed work from confirmed change
A practical re-observation plan keeps improvement claims grounded.
Define the comparison before intervening
Document the original situation, affected audience, observation conditions and decision owner. Specify what will be observed again and what would count as improvement, deterioration or an inconclusive result. Agree a feasible time window rather than choosing only the best moment to observe.
Use an explicit maturity ladder
Observed identifies a supported issue. Acknowledged records ownership. Intervention underway records the action. Re-observed records a comparable follow-up. Change confirmed requires evidence that the intended condition improved. These are distinct states; finishing a workshop does not alone establish a change in practice.
Keep the limitations visible
Changes in staffing, demand or measurement can affect a comparison. Explain them and retain contradictory observations. This editorial note proposes a method, not a measured customer outcome. Its questions can inform an Image Walk before a formal assessment.
A question for leaders
What evidence could your team follow to establish that a gap actually changed?
